Tips

Gillig Buses experience a long service life and therefore take quite a bit of abuse day in and day out. To keep costs down and to avoid frequent glass replacement, here are a few tips.

  • Drive safe and slow! The number one cause of windshield damage is from rocks, gravel and road debris. The faster you go, the stronger the impact force on the windshield will be.
  • Bus yards can be places where fender benders and other accidents can happen. Be extra careful when maneuvering, backing up and parking in bus yards. Some yards will have protruding objects (even things like lumber and iron bars) that can poke through a window or windshield.
  • Students may damage glass during trips or routine busing. Instruct student to keep from scratching, etching or banging on windows.
